Pronoun
Pronoun adalah kata yang digunakan untuk menggantikan noun (kata benda), baik berupa nama orang, hewan, benda, maupun kelompok benda. Pronoun digunakan agar kalimat tidak terdengar berulang-ulang dan lebih efektif.
Perhatikan contoh berikut:
❌ Rina is my friend. Rina is very kind. Rina helps me every day.
Kalimat di atas terasa kurang efektif karena nama Rina diulang berkali-kali.
✅ Rina is my friend. She is very kind. She helps me every day.
Kata she menggantikan kata Rina.
Fungsi Pronoun
Pronoun berfungsi untuk:
- Menggantikan nama orang.
- Menggantikan nama hewan.
- Menggantikan nama benda.
- Menghindari pengulangan kata yang berlebihan.
- Membuat kalimat lebih ringkas dan mudah dipahami.
Jenis-Jenis Pronoun yang Dipelajari di Kelas 7 SMP
1. Subject Pronouns
Subject pronouns adalah kata ganti yang berfungsi sebagai subjek dalam kalimat.

3. Possessive Adjectives
Possessive adjectives menunjukkan kepemilikan dan selalu diikuti kata benda.

4. Possessive Pronouns
Possessive pronouns juga menunjukkan kepemilikan tetapi tidak diikuti kata benda.

Digunakan untuk benda atau hewan.
Contoh:
- The cat is sleeping. It is under the table.

My Best Friends
I have two best friends, Andi and Siti. They are my classmates. Andi is a diligent student. He always finishes his homework on time. Siti is very friendly. She likes helping other students. Every day, we study together in the library. Our English teacher often gives us interesting assignments. After school, I sometimes visit them at their houses. I am happy because they are good friends.
