Singular and Plural
Singular adalah kata benda yang menunjukkan satu orang, satu hewan, satu benda, atau satu hal.
Contoh:
- a book (sebuah buku)
- a cat (seekor kucing)
- a student (seorang siswa)
- a chair (sebuah kursi)
Plural adalah kata benda yang menunjukkan lebih dari satu orang, hewan, benda, atau hal.
Contoh:
- books (buku-buku)
- cats (kucing-kucing)
- students (para siswa)
- chairs (kursi-kursi)
Dalam bahasa Inggris, bentuk jamak umumnya dibuat dengan menambahkan -s atau -es pada kata benda tunggal. Namun, ada juga beberapa bentuk jamak yang tidak beraturan (irregular plural nouns).
Aturan Membentuk Plural Nouns
1. Menambahkan -s
Aturan ini digunakan pada sebagian besar kata benda.

2. Menambahkan -es

3. Kata Berakhiran Konsonan + y
Huruf y berubah menjadi i, lalu ditambah -es.

4. Kata Berakhiran Vokal + y
Jika sebelum huruf y terdapat huruf vokal (a, i, u, e, o), cukup tambahkan -s.

5. Kata Berakhiran f atau fe
Biasanya berubah menjadi ves.

6. Irregular Plural Nouns (Bentuk Jamak Tidak Beraturan)

At the Zoo
Last Sunday, I went to the zoo with my family. Near the entrance, I saw a lion and two tigers. There was a monkey in a tree, and many monkeys were playing around it. I also saw a child feeding some deer. In another area, there was a woman taking pictures of several elephants. My favorite animals were the wolves because they looked very strong. Before going home, I bought a toy and my sister bought two toys. It was a wonderful day at the zoo.
