Discussion Text

Discussion Text adalah jenis teks dalam bahasa Inggris yang digunakan untuk membahas suatu isu, permasalahan, atau topik tertentu dengan menyajikan dua sudut pandang atau lebih, biasanya berupa argumen pro dan kontra. Tujuan utama discussion text adalah memberikan informasi yang seimbang sehingga pembaca dapat mempertimbangkan berbagai pendapat sebelum mengambil kesimpulan.

Discussion text sering digunakan dalam artikel opini, debat, jurnal akademik, media massa, dan tulisan argumentatif karena mampu melatih kemampuan berpikir kritis serta analisis logis terhadap suatu isu.

Struktur Discussion Text

1. Issue

Bagian pembuka yang memperkenalkan topik atau isu yang akan dibahas.

Contoh:

The use of smartphones in schools has become a controversial issue among educators and parents.


2. Arguments For

Bagian yang berisi pendapat atau argumen yang mendukung isu.

Contoh:

Smartphones can help students access educational resources quickly.


3. Arguments Against

Bagian yang berisi pendapat yang menentang isu.

Contoh:

Smartphones may distract students during lessons.


4. Conclusion / Recommendation

Bagian penutup yang berisi simpulan atau rekomendasi berdasarkan pembahasan.

Contoh:

Therefore, smartphones should be used wisely under proper supervision.
